Rockoto Peruvian Cuisine is a straightforward, no-frills restaurant tucked into South San Francisco’s Linden Avenue, serving up authentic Peruvian flavors with a focus on fresh, well-balanced dishes. Its atmosphere is relaxed and unassuming, making it an approachable spot for both casual dinners and small gatherings where the food takes center stage rather than the décor.

The menu highlights classic Peruvian staples like Lomo Saltado, Pollada Peruana, and the Cebiche Trio, which features different styles of ceviche including fresh halibut and Nikkey Tuna options. Many diners appreciate the precision in cooking, with seafood and meats that maintain their distinct textures and flavors—nothing feels overcooked or overly complicated.

Visitors often find the portion sizes reasonable for the price, and the assortment of dishes makes this a good spot to explore traditional Peruvian cuisine without venturing far from the Peninsula. The Anticuchos (grilled skewers), along with the Paella Carretillero, offer heartier options that reflect South American roots with subtle local tweaks.

The service tends to be friendly and attentive, helping guide diners through the less familiar menu items without being intrusive. It’s the kind of place where a small group can share several dishes to sample different flavors, including desserts like creamy Tres Leches or the unique Cassava Yuca with lucuma ice cream, rounding out the meal with a sweet note.

Rockoto’s bar is stocked enough to pour a solid Pisco Sour or Sangria, complementing the food with traditional and well-mixed cocktails. This balance makes it suitable for lunch or dinner, although the vibe is more about straightforward dining than a late-night scene.

Overall, Rockoto fits well for those looking to dive into Peruvian cuisine in a setting where the emphasis remains on authentic tastes and modest presentation. It’s particularly appealing to locals and visitors who value balanced flavors, fresh seafood, and a comfortable, unpretentious dining experience.

The food here is delicious! We've eaten here several times. The ceviches have fresh fish with delicate balances of flavors, their cooked fishes and meats are cooked perfectly. My eating partner can't get enough of their aǰi de gallina. I've been to many different peruvian places around the US and this one is my top 3 in the Bay Area for price for what you get.

The interior is unassuming, but the food and service are incredible! All of our food was beautifully presented and delicious. I ordered the Mixta salad and could taste the quality of the ingredients. The salmon was perfectly flaky, and the salad tasted fresh. The dressing was well balanced - enough to impart flavor but not overwhelming. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She even brought over free drink samples for new mixed drinks that aren’t on the menu yet. We felt really well cared for when we were at Rockoto! They were also easily able to accommodate our party of 7. My only critique is that it was sometimes hard to hear other people at our table because the acoustics of the restaurant made all of the sounds echo-y. But it wasn’t a big deal and we all had a good time. Thanks for hosting us for a great dinner!

Searched for New and Hot restaurants in South San Francisco and this came up as number 1, so we went and tried it. We ordered the Anticuchos, Rockoto trio, Churrasco Criollo, Salmon a Lo Macho, Paella Carretillero, Tres Leche and for cocktails we had Sangria, Pisco Sour and Pina Rosada. Everything was great and delicious!

The food is good. However, their menu is limited so we each ordered our own dishes and the only thing we shared was empanadas (mushroom and chicken). I ordered the lomo Saltado, honey ordered his Churrasco Criollo, mother had pollo peruana and my brother in law ordered tallarin verde with chicken. Of course, we also tried their pisco sour. It wasn’t bad, however puerto 27 and limon was better. I would come back though. 05/27/2025 We came back. We came and ordered: jalea, aji de gallina, chaufa combo, salmon a lo machado, and lomo saltado. Everything was good and the salmon a lo machado is very different. Don’t recall seeing anything like it. We also ordered pisco sour. Not as strong as limon and puerto 27 but good.. We would definitely come back.

We came here looking for a nice, quaint local restaurant. Stumbled on this gem and was not disappointed. Came in for a late lunch and had the place to ourselves. The owner was there and made us feel very welcome. Had great suggestions for meal choices and definitely hit the mark. Food was outstanding! Pricing was pretty much in line with what was expected for the quality and the location. Would definitely consider going back if the opportunity presents itself.
